           A Milkmaid's Dream

Once upon a time, there lived a poor milk maid in a village. One day, she was going to a village market to sell milk. The pot that she was carrying on her head was full of milk. On her way to the market, she began to make plans for using her money. At first, she thought that she would buy chickens. In this way, she would get many eggs. Many chickens could be produced from the eggs. Then she would sell all of them and buy some goats. After a few years, there would be many goats. She would sell those goats too to buy some cows.

After a few years, there would be many cows. She would sell those cows and buy expensive jewellery and beautiful clothes. With that money, she would look beautiful in those clothes and jewellery. Many young men would come to her to propose to her. She would not accept it immediately. Many young, handsome, educated, and rich men would keep coming to her. While she was thinking all these things, she tripped on a stone and fell. All her milk spewed on the ground. She became very sad.

Moral: Don't build a castle in the air.

         Androcles and the Lion

Long, long ago, there was a place called Carthage. There was a very cruel man. He was very rich. He had kept several servants. They never raised their voice against their master's cruelty. They had to work hard. If they did not follow his command (order), he would beat them. Among them, one of them was Androcles. One day, Androcles ran away from his cruel master into the African desert. There, he lived in a cave. One day, to his terror, he found a lion in a cave. At first, Androcles was afraid of the lion. He wanted to run away, but the lion seemed sick. The lion held up his paw in a pitiful way.
Androcles went to the lion to find out what had happened to him. He saw that there was a great thorn in one foot, because of which he had not gone out hunting for several days. Androcles pulled the thorn out of his foot. The lion wagged its tail and licked his leg. One day, Androcles' master sent some people in search of him.

They found and caught him. He was taken to Carthage. His master became angry with him. He wanted to punish him. He was condemned to be thrown to the lions at the next public game. The lion was let out to kill and eat him. He did not touch Androcles. Rather, the lion lay at his feet and licked his hand. Everyone was surprised. It was the same lion. Androcles had helped before. The governor also heard this. He pardoned Androcles forever. He did not have to live as a slave, either. The lion was also set free.

Moral: We should help others.
